Small Victories in the Counselor's Office

Let's be honest. On a day to day basis, we don't get to see the impact that we are having on our students. As I high school counselor, I spend a lot of my time tracking credits and graduation requirements. This is a marathon, not a sprint, so it takes time, planning, patience, endurance and long suffering before we see the fruit of our labor. So I like to celebrate the small victories.
The best feeling that I get is when I can visually tell that a student is leaving my office a little bit less stressed, anxious, sad, angry or hungry than when they entered.
What are some of the little things that make your day a bit better?
